The Role
I really enjoyed the work I did during my internship, was varied and was kept busy with tasks daily.
I felt like the work I did was appreciated and I was welcomed into the team.
I had 2 mentors whilst at Macmillan who offered me advice for job hunting as well as my work within the team which really helped me feel supported and valued.
Generally, I was always kept busy, but when I didn't have much work to do, I always made sure I asked for more to do or if there was anything I could be doing to help.
I was given quite a bit of responsibility, I was assigned tasks to work on independently for the event which were important in the running of the event,
I really feel I developed my skills whilst at Macmillan, these have helped me to secure a job at the end of it which I don't think I would have been able to get if I hadn't of done the internship.
The Company
There was a really lively and positive atmosphere in the office which made it a fun and inspiring place to work.
The set up was very good. We had a good range of inductions when we first started and we were given guidance throughout to help us achieve maximum results from our work.
A lot of time was dedicated to us in order for us to develop and progress personally and professionally. They are experienced in dealing with interns so this worked in our favour.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
There are lots of opportunities within Macmillan to gain employment after the internship programme as they like to employ interns as they have a good understanding of the company etc. I hope to come back and volunteer at future events.
The Culture
There were a lot of interns but the social scene amongst us wasn't that great. I think this was due to money issues, as the internship was unpaid and also everyone was located on different floors etc so didn't see everyone regularly.
The prices were average London prices.
I never went out in the area I worked in. I decided to go more central.
There was lots of opportunities to get involved in lots of activities, Macmillan had a social committee who organised activities etc for after work.
