The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship with Macmillan. Although there were aims and objectives for the duration of it, there was a lot of freedom within this and you could make what you wanted from the internship.
I felt incredibly valued by my colleagues. Although I was only a temporary Intern, I felt like they were really interested in my ideas and that they valued my input. They were all friendly, welcoming and more than happy to help- nothing was ever too much for them.
I was given a lot of support by my manager. She clearly stated aims and objectives, and if I had any questions (which I did have plenty of!) she was more than happy to help and explain things to me. She was always there to contact for anything no matter how big or small- even just a friendly chat! I felt we created a good bond which enabled me to get the most out of my internship.
I felt I was very busy- there were always lots of little things to be done. At times I did feel a little overwhelmed but my manager was there to help me and I prioritised tasks accordingly. Everything was do-able and I covered a huge variety of tasks. I was pleased to have lots to do- and it was quality tasks, which meant I got a lot more out of it.
I felt I was given a large responsibility which was great. I was running the social media pages myself including organising the content, and attended meetings, for example with schools, alone. I liked having this responsibilty, and it was still reassuring to know theteam were always there if I did need anything.
I believe that every skill I have acquired from this role will help my career to progress. I have learnt a variety of valuable skills- personal and work related.
The Company
This is hard to answer as I was mainly based from home, or travelling. When I was working in the York office, the staff there were very friendly and helpful
I think the internship was well organised- from the beginning there was a clear structure with aims and objectives. I feel some tasks could have been indicated to be a priority on beginning the internship, however some of these were new this year so it was a learning curve for everyone.
I received Media training and Social Media training which was valuable to my role with Macmillan. There were helpful files on the system to help complete tasks too.

Healthcare/Dental
They are appealing as I am keen to go into Events Management, however having studied a Music degree, I am still passionate about ending up in a Music role.
The Culture
I cannot answer this as there was not a lot going on, however I got on well with the other Intern I was working with.
Very cheap living, but still incredibly difficult when you have no income.
Having lived here already for 3 years I know the nightlife is great!
Not really- although we are having a team meal when the Internship ends.
