The Role
I really enjoyed my internship as I felt as if I was helping to make a difference.
My main manager was lovely and I knew that I could go to her if I was struggling. Other managers were quite difficult to get hold of but when I did, they were lovely too.
We would have a catch up at the start of each week to discuss what was needed that week.
Some days I was extremely busy, others quite busy but that kept me engaged.
I feel like I had quite a lot of responsibility as I was in charge of the main publicity for the event and the independence I was allowed added to this.
I really think this will help me in the future. It shows that I was self-motivated and determined and I took on a role that really could be a full time job.
The Company
This is a difficult question as I didn't actually have an office! The regional fundraising teams operate on a mobile basis so a lot of the work was based at home, which takes a little while to get used to.
It was pretty organised, we had a plan to follow. Sometimes I would be a bit clueless as to where to start but I would talk to my manager and she would put me straight.
My main manager really seemed to want to help me and support me in my work which was great.
National Travel
Working from home
I am not sure if I would want to start off working from home all the time as it can be quite lonely and I would quite like the office atmosphere but their headquarters in London would be appealing if I lived closer.
The Culture
I had an assistant for my work which was great and we used to travel together a lot which was comforting.
We were provided expenses of £5 a day for lunch which was good so this kept costs down.
Not really applicable.
There were plenty of opportunities to help volunteering like collections etc. which I got involved in.
