The Role
Really enjoyed it.
I felt very valued by colleagues, they were very friendly towards me and happy to have me there.
I was given excellent support by my supervisor who met with me at least once a week for a one to one meeting on how I was getting on, to run through what we both were working on and check I was ok with my work and had enough to do. My supervisor also helped me develop my CV and helped with looking at possible jobs and skills I would need for jobs after the internship.
To start with I was not that busy but as soon I was settled in and knew how things worked I was given more and more to do with more responsibility. I had the perfect balance of work load, not too much and not too little.
As the placement progressed and they trusted that I was capable I was given more and more responsibility.
The skills and experience I have had at Macmillan will be extreemly useful for my career as I now have some excellent experience that I can add to my CV.
The Company
There was a very positive and relaxed atmosphere in the office.
There was a good structure to the internship and it was well organised.
The company allowed me to attend various training opportunities and took the time to show me how things worked.
I have met several colleague that used to be interns at Macmillan and got a job after it. Access to the internal jobs database is a great positive to the internship and I have applied for a couple of jobs with Macmillan.
The Culture
The intern get togethers were useful in getting to meet interns from other departments. There have been a few socials organised.
Expensive London prices.
There isnt really a night life in Vauxhall.
There were a few work socials and activities outside of work.
