    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I got a lot out of the year, and whilst hard work at times, the tasks were always interesting and enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The department and other colleagues at Pirelli made me feel very welcome from day 1

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager along with other members of the team were always on hand to help me out should i need it

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The nature of the job meant that the day-to-day schedule could vary significantly, and during the motorsport off-season days were a little quieter, however in the run up to some of the major events they became very busy.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was almost allowed free-run, and didn't have someone checking over my shoulder every few minutes.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Some tasks weren't directly related to course subjects, but did prepare me for what life in an office environment was like. However for other tasks i was able to use a lot of skills/theory i had picked up inthe first couple of years at university for.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was always something going on in department, whether it was the office cake club on a thursday, or the motorsport Bacon sandwhich round on a Friday, or a trip to the pub for lunch on a friday, there was always people around to chat to, and in the marketing department there was an almost-constant conversation flow.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I got the feeling that the placement had been run for quite a few years now, and Pirelli had the marketing placement dialled.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was offered (and took) several product training sessions, to gain more of an understanding of the products that i could be asked about at an event.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Unfortunately there isn't a Grad Schemed as such at Pirelli, however if there is a job available at the same time you graduate, then apparently you are considered for the role and jump a couple of the recruitment stages.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I lived in a house with 3 other students from Pirelli, and there was another house of 4 just down the road. We had plenty of evenings where we chilled at one another houses, or went to the pub for drinks. We also had some meals and nights out throughout the year.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Burton On Trent was dirt cheap (accomodation), however the prices of beer in the town itself weren't anything special.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Burton has plenty of pubs, but very few bars. However saying that, the few times we did go out, we had a really good night, but then again, its the people not the places that make a night.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were many opportunities to attend motorsport events, or department meals etc

    4/5
