    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enojyed my time with Pirelli over the last 12 months. There has been a great range of tasks and specialist areas to get involved with and learn from. It has made me realise that HR is the acreer for me.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All of the department quickly made me feel very welcome and I was part of the team from day 1. I have made some great friends here that I will stay in contact with - I also hope to work with them again in my future career.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support was always there when needed and there were always various people and resources on hand to provide guidance. This was not just for my first few weeks/months, this support continued during the whole 12 month placement to ensure that this to be a learning experince.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work load was a great balance. As in any job, some weeks were busier than others, but there was always work to be done.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The placement student within my deaprtment is never treated like a student. I was responsilble for various reports/managing absences etc, that I therefore needed to ensure were completed on a daily and monthly basis. The responibility level was high, as the placement student is not there to photocopy/make tea for other people; the student is expected to manage their workload and tasks.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have built upon my own skills and abilities during the year, as well as developing new ones. I have learnt much more than I thought I could, and that is all thanks to the job role and the people I work with.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • All of the office have great working relationships that allow time for laughs, but also make sure that all of our work is comlpeted on time.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The transition between the current and new placement students has always worked very well within this department. The handover period was 2 weeks, which gives everyone chance to adjust to the recent changes. We also create a 'Handover Manual' where key information about the job is kept, to help all new students settle quickly into their role.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company and my department invested a lot of their time in ensuring that I comfortable within my role and that I was continually learning. Although I did not attend any training courses, the on the job training was ideal and worked very well.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • International Travel

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work for Pirelli again in the future, as i think it has been a great international business to work with and the people within my department have been amazing. Unfortunatley, the department here is very small so there are not often any opportunities to return after graduating.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • This was great too - there were 11 students in total for the placement year, this year there are 13! There is now more of an even ration between the male and female students.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I did not live in the local area, as my parents live a 30 minute drive away from Pirelli so it was cheaper for me to commute. However, the local area was very cheap as it is not a student city.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The night life was okay - small and can be quiet, but very very cheap !!!!

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were some, but it depends on your interets. Pirelli sponsor the local football team Burton Albion FC so there are often links and events here that employees can attend.
