    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I wouldn't say it was highly enjoyable but making the necessary transition from a student to working lifestyle is never going to be.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As the Internship went on, I felt more valued by my colleagues and they started to have a greater understanding of the Internship Scheme. This transpired into me being given more responsibility.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My Manager was very supportive, and at no point did I feel like a hindrance to her. She arranged many good experiences for me such as attending meetings and shadowing professionals from other areas of the insurance industry.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most of the time, the workload was about right. I was never overloaded with too many tasks, and this meant I was always able to do my tasks as thoroughly as possible.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • By the end of the internship I had constructed reports, attending client meetings and gained quotations from underwriters.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The internship was an invaluable experience and I enhanced a number of key skills; such as how to conduct myself in a professional environment and the ability to present. Also I have significantly built up my technical knowledge of the insurance industry. I can honestly say, with the additional knowledge gained I am a more valuable asset to any company.

    5/5

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was fairly subdued but I was in a regional office.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Generally good, however sometimes my manager ran out of things for me to do.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I got lots of training and they were lots of colleagues who were willing to pass knowledge on to me.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Above 25 days holiday

    3/5

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
