    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Supporting the process of Trustee meetings throughout the year which includes organising dates, location, agendas, minutes, business calendars, recording Trustee training ect. Due to being an entering role you will be doing most of the initial work and supporting more senior collogues in the process of creating the required documents for the Trustee meetings.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Not really but it has given me insight to the process of Trustee pension meetings and what happens with the decisions made afterwards. It has also emphasised how important it is to format your communication correctly

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Not too much responsibility as my main role was to support my more senior colleagues rather than take initiatives on tasks. But this is because within governance, your work must go through numerous levels of checking before it can be presented and it must be formatted correctly.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My Manager was really great and was active in trying to get me onto more busy clients to expand my knowledge and understanding. I felt like I could be open with my manager with any concerns. There were also other opportunities that were advertised that you could get involved with such as organising the pensions conference but i never got involved with that.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Really open and great- everyone in my office was prepared to help each other and seemed to get on well. Also the company does have open discussion on what needs improving and has emphasised that they are open to people trying new opportunities and roles within the company so there's loads of area in terms of development and career progression.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed the company as a whole and I did feel a community within it. But in terms of my role, I didn't feel challenged enough or that I got enough exposure in more advanced tasks but I understand that I was the first year they introduced client management as a placement and not just an apprenticeship route. I do know that in my role, you gain a bigger workload, more responsibility and client interaction after the first year. I've fed this back to my manager and I am sure this will be addressed in the next cohort so don't feel deterred from applying! I would definitely recommend Aon because it is a great company
