The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my time with McDonald's UK.
A lot of my work, particularly as my knowledge and experience improved, was valued by my colleagues. Everyone throughout the business was approachable and the people specifically within my department were very accommodating.
The management gave me guidance and support on almost a daily basis. It made the experience much greater.
Some days were busier than others, but majority of the time the balance was good. There was also the benefit have working flexible hours which made the work load more manageable.
I feel that the responsibility I was given was acceptable considering my role within the business. No major decision making took place, but as my experience and knowledge of the business improved my suggestions were considered.
I learned a lot of skills whilst on placement, but in particular using the basic Microsoft products on a daily basis was surprisingly beneficial.
The Company
The atmosphere was professional but also very relaxed in terms of other office cultures. Everyone does their jobs properly and professionally, but there was a lot of fun and a lot of jokes flying around the office.
The placement was set up very well. Never experienced any issues with being paid, or not having all health and safety procedures etc... explained sufficiently.
The company sent me on at least 3 courses and paid for all of them during the first few months of the placement.

I would love to go back and work for this organisation. It is a possibility but nothing has been confirmed as yet.
The Culture
I got on well with all the other placement students, in particularly the ones that were in the same department as me. It was also good fun overlapping with the previous placement students, and with my replacement.
It was quite pricey as the business was located in zone 3 of London. But the salary offered is more than enough to pay for rent in this area and to socialise/live comfortably.
It was London, so I'm not sure if there's many better places to go out in!!
Yes, I played 5 a side at least once a week and also went go carting twice. There is also many opportunities to get involved in activities through charity events run by the sister company, Ronald McDonald House Charities.
