The Role
I had a brilliant year in industry with McDonald's. The level of development you go through is amazing and I now feel really optimistic about my future career prospects.
Walking into a corporate environment for the first time is certainly daunting, however my colleagues welcomed me with open arms. Progressively throughout the year they trusted me with more and more responsibility and I saw my work having a real impact on the way our department operated.
I had a fantastic line manager who went that extra mile in ensuring that I was happy and reaping as much out of the year as possible.
The work was fast paced and busy.
Lots, some examples include: - Analysing data that was presented to the UK executives and directors - Producing detailed written reports for the operations hierarchy - Liaising with UK Police forces
I completed a variety of training courses that helped me develop transferable skills such as written communication and Microsoft excel.
The Company
Hard working, fun, friendly and informal
I was the third industrial placement to enter the Corporate Security department so the role was already well establish. None the less, there were constantly opportunities to keep it moving forward.
Hugely, I completed several training courses and was given the opportunity to present at national team meetings that included overnight stays.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
No official graduate scheme however many of the industrial placement students return for full time positions.
The Culture
Yes, many of the placement students go into shared housing together.
Incredibly expensive due to the office being based in London.
Accessing central London via the tube only took fifteen minutes.
There are opportunities to volunteer with the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
