The Role
Overall an enjoyable year. The office atmosphere is one of work hard play hard and everyone is friendly and welcoming. Working for such a huge global organisation has been absolutely fascinating. I had no idea that I would learn so much in my placement year and would recommend it to everyone.
I felt like a very valuable member of my team, and had many responsibilities that extended beyond the marketing department, meaning that I was able to improve my networking skills.
team were great at drip-feeding responsibility. I had a month-long handover with the current placement person which really helped get my head around the organisation and my role. When I felt comfortable with my workload the team were great at giving me additional responsibilities which kept my interest in the job role and increased my accountability which was a great motivator.
I was given more responsibility when I was comfortable with my workload. Towards the end of my placement I had a little more time on my hands although can appreciate that the new Placement person would have had a lot of catching up to do!
was given the responsibility to order stock for all of our UK Restaurants as well as manage one of our external agencies that supply a document sent to +90,000 individuals.
I went on loads of training courses internally - proof reading, marketing courses and people development and NLP courses
The Company
he Marketing Department is great fun and you get to meet a lot of new people, especailly as we have a lot of external agencies that we work closely with (they also each have their own Xmas party which is a lot of fun!).
The placement is well organised - I think it would have been very interesting to spend one afternoon each month shadowing another member of the marketing team working on other promotions.
Sent on loads of internal courses, and got to attend away days at the expense of mcdonalds. Mcdonalds heavily invest in staff development from store staff to HO staff.

Not straight away as Mcdonalds don't offer a grad scheme
The Culture
lived with 5 others doing placements in different departments which was really good fun. There's usually + 10 placement students each year and it's great to be able to mix with people doing the same thing as you.
Our flat wasn't incredibly nice but was quite cheap for London. I would recommend looking near the office as it's a lot cheaper than central london and is quite handy for work.
15 mins to Leicester Square, 20minutes to Camden
Mcdonalds football team, peoples birthdays and leaving do's and every so often friday drinks.
