    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great training provided throughout, took a while to get a hang of what the work was but eventually picked it up.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • People in my team were very nice and were willing to take some time out to explain me stuff, as well as occassionly have a casual chat.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • As mentioned above. Stuff was explained to me relatively quickly and so I had to go back and ask questions several times, which was fine.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy on some days (stayed until 8pm at the latest), and not given any work at all on other days.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was not given much responsibility, but this is to be expected as an intern.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I improved my Excel skills, as well as my knowledge of financial concepts and statistical methods used. These skills might help me in my final year of my degree, and may help me in my career.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very quiet, occasional non-work related conversation.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Organisation was good, however, could have done with more training at the beginning of the internship to get a better idea of the work involved. CSR projects were quite well organised, although there was a slight issue with travel expenses.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Training was great, on average two 1 hour training sessions per week. Covered a wide range of topics related to investment.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Will find out shortly if I have been offered a job, but am confident.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Lunchtimes were one of the highlights of the internship: there's a table-tennis table, football-table and wii in the courtyard outside the office and was a good way to relax with the other interns. Not much socialising outside of work with colleagues, with the exception of the odd drink on a friday evening.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
