The Role
From the start this placement has been a great experience from the first day and inductions to finding a great job in the organisation!
The team made me feel welcome from day one, never made me feel bad for asking questions and gave me such a lovely send off with such kind words!
My manager gave me so many tips, being an ex-intern herself, she set me up with so many inductions, encouraged me to look at job sites and worked through my workload to make sure it was manageable but still challenging. She made me feel really comfortable in adding extra suggestions of how I wanted to spend my time and made those ideas happen to the very best of her ability.
I was busy, but with enough time to add in personal development and some time with other teams.
I was given free reign on telephone calls and sending out merchandise. I was still able to ask questions and fell supported though so I wasnt just left to my own devices, meaning I hope I didnt pick up too many bad habits!
This internship has got me a fabulous job and I reckon has doubled the skills on my CV. It is the perfect balance between a realistic view of the day-to-day workings of a large third-sector organisation, with the ability to see how other areas work, and the ability to increase your experience and skills in a small space of time! Thank you, Macmillan!
The Company
There was never a day when it wasnt someone's birthday, wedding, or maternity leave! There is a constant bus, normally fuelled by cake!
Really well, from the quick reply to my application to the imput of an exit interview to get my feedback face-face, it was a smooth and easy process!
They invested fully. For me it was a 50-50 relationship between me gaining experience and them giving me work to do. It was very balanced.

For me this is 10/10 as I got a job! Im not sure how many people will be in the same position at the end of the placement, but my experience was that my team were behind me 100% whilst I was applying for a job at Macmillan, which really encouraged me to go for the job I now have! It couldnt have worked out better for me!
The Culture
This did waver a little as the placement went on as people became busier, but I have made some great friends, and it is actively encouraged that people should meet up and share experiences.
It isnt cheap to eat out in Vauxhall, although Macmillan does help out with the cost of lunch. Socialising can be expensive, but there are a few places that have deals after work which are more affordable!
I havent been out too much in this area, but I know that there are areas close, including the Kings Road and Battersea which are great and not too far away!
There are sporting opportunities and classes put on at Macmillan. I didnt get involved, but would like to as I hear good things about them!
