    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really nice office environment and lots of exposure to variety of work made the days pass really quickly.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • At some points duing the internship the office was clearly not very busy, or at least not much work that was suitable for an intern. At these times didn't feel very valued, but there were other weeks where I was really busy and felt very valued.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Every intern has a buddy assigned to them and this ensures you get lots of help with work and information about the company.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most of the time I had the right amount of work, although there were one or two weeks where I was lacking in work, and 1 week where I was a bit too busy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Nice amount of responsibility. Responsible for my own work, but always knew that the work was going to be checked.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I gained so much knowledge of pensions and learnt much about what to expect from the actuarial exams, very useful when I look to pursue this career path.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very nice office atmosphere. People are very friendly and helpful and opportunities for going out for drinks and meals every week.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Clearly well organised, received information about what training was happening at the start if the internship, received email from buddy weeks before the internship began.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • When I received work it was explained to me, although the quality of the expanation did depend on who was giving the work and how busy they were. I was also invited along to some in house training sessions which were very interesting.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They have a history of offering a large percentage of interns jobs, although at this moment I do not know if I will get a job offer.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Went out for drinks or lunch quite often. Probably less of a social scene compared to other offices, but nice amount for me.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was commuting so can't say much about the cost of living. The prices of local pubs etc. seemed reasonable.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Didn't experience the nightlife.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Plenty of opportunities to participate in things such as weekly football, a rounders match was held one week.

    4/5
