Overview
Throughout the 9 weeks, my team of interns and I had to prepare an Aon Business focused project about a topic allocated to us. This involved various meetings, compiling data through surveys and interviews, which we presented back to our managers, other interns and early careers team at the end of the internship. On the side of this, I also took part in difficult actuarial work - calculations for pension members, creating cashflow models on excel along with day to day admin work.
Skills
Massively improved my technical and excel skills - completed excel training which helped me to create and update models involving pension scheme cashflows. Also developed my organisation and communication skills as I was required to communicate my work capacity to other employees when asking for more or less work.
Responsibilities
Was responsible for completing given tasks to a high standard - and fixing any inevitable mistakes made along the way.
Support & Guidance
A lot of support and guidance given from both the early careers team, who held various learning sessions throughout the internship, and from my buddy, manager and other grads in my office, who delegated me work and made strong efforts to help understand the pension industry.
Culture
Different offices are very different : the atmosphere in the London office feels very busy with people from diverse backgrounds, people are always happy to help and it is a really nice vibe there. I would say the Epsom office is a bit less diverse, but everyone is still very friendly and happy to help
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed my experience - met great people and learnt a lot in such a short time.
