    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Attend various site visit which could entail a clerk of works site visit, quality inspection or social housing refurbishment works. These would be in different location across the UK, my role would be to attend these, offer my opinion on any issues/defects and then report back with a weekly or by-weekly report. This would be circulated with the appropriate bodies.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I've enhanced my communication skills, technological skills and construction knowledge which will be big step forward for my career within this sector. By attending different sites and contract types the ability to constantly learn this role has been hugely beneficial to me. My driving skills have improved and because of this I am now more confident to do the longer and more challenging drives.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • After a probationary period I was given more responsibility to manage my day to day role with looking into the week and deciding what sites to visit and manage my time accordingly. By doing this it allows myself to understand what the role would entail after the placement. I was involved in site progress meetings from day one and towards the end of my placement I had begun to chair these meetings.
