Overview
There are two parts to my role so I could either be working on the Stock Condition side or the team or the structural team. Generally, I work away 3/4 days of the week with one day in the office carrying out condition surveys both visual and invasive to traditional and non-traditional residential properties. This can be either working alone or working in a small team.
Skills
I have 100% developed my confidence in approaching and working with strangers as well as developing relationships with key individuals on construction sites. I have had to improve my time management, organisation and professional industry knowledge on the areas I have been working on.
Responsibilities
I have had to independently manage my time and work load and have been trusted to do this and ensure the work is completed within a given time period.
Support & Guidance
The team at MDA are amazing and are there to help with any questions you may have big or small. Everyone is approachable and more than happy to help. Cannot fault them!
Culture
The company is very welcoming and everyone is willing to help. I would say there is some signs of micromanaging but in the majority of cases everyone is there to get on with their job and always have a chat whilst doing it.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed my placement and some days I have absolutely loved my job and am so so glad I chose to do it. However, it can be lonely sometimes due to the nature of the job and working away the majority of the time. Although some people in the team love this aspect so I think it just depends on the individual.
Yes
MDA is a great employer with everyone wanting you to succeed whilst this is either when you’re at the company or with your future studies. The provide great help with understanding your RICS chartership and anything else you wish to pursue. I would highly recommend applying for a placement with MDA.
