The Role
The variety of tasks given to me when requested and the people at the company helped me to enjoy the placement.
As with any company you'll feel more valued when you complete tasks and receive praise, or when you have ownership of a project. I felt quite valued throughout the year.
Anytime I asked for help or guidance it was given to me. Not always on the spot, but always received support.
You get as much work as you ask for i guess. but the majority of the time I had a reasonable amount of work to be getting on with. There's always something to do, just need to ask.
Given a certain amount of responsibility. Given access and asked to amend business critical tasks, just check with your supervisor before you make any major changes!
Very helpful. I can see the skills gained and experiences being very useful to me in my working life and even when completing my university studies.,
The Company
Very friendly, always someones birthday which meant cakes! If you can take the time to organise a lunch or dinner etc, people will come.
Few problems as staff changed but generally quite well organised.
They have an employee development scheme, where they give you money towards non-work related activities (learning new things)
Above 25 days holiday
Prospects are good if you impress
The Culture
There are always people you don't get on with but most are quite sociable
Cheaper than london, but not "cheap", unless you can share a house with other students
Not amazing, but good for a small city
Only if self organised.
