    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Daily meetings account for 10-25% of the day. Communicate with internal and external customers on testing parameters and requirements. Review test data for completeness and accuracy to test request. Provide high-level data validation on test data. Oversee preparation of engines/aftertreatment hardware for testing. Monitor, report on, and troubleshoot issues with any engine, aftertreatment and test-cell hardware.

  • This placement has been as excellent opportunity to develop new technical and soft skills. Design-for-manufacture, manufacturing supply chain, engineering design standards, just to name a few.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Once I had a bit of stability in the role, I was afforded as many opportunities to take on responsibility for projects/tasks as desired. With repeat success providing further opportunities.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Support and guidance were excellent on the placement. We had 2 professional mentors within the program (one within, and one outside of your field), a 6-month development course. Additionally, we had constant support within the engineering teams, and no one was averse to answering an swarm of questions.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture/atmosphere was great, within engineering. There is a very cohesive team atmosphere, and feels very non-competitive, yet there is still chance for advancement.

  • I enjoyed this placement greatly, although it was an anomaly being held during the kick-off of lockdown/COVID.

  • Great organization to work with, excellent benefits, and chances to work internationally. Any placement is an excellent chance to expand ones experience before graduation.
