Overview
Your role within Premier Foods it to act as a functional member of the sweet treats team, aiding in the development of new products and taking on projects of your own. The placement is a strong mixture of time to develop products and time in the factory aiding in trials and product launches.
Skills
Being at Premier Foods Sweet Treats has been an invaluable experience to consolidate learnings taken from University and apply them in "real world" scenarios. The exposure to the factory has helped me to develop interpersonal skills that will stay with me throughout my career. In this role, you will be require to work cross-functionally on a number of projects, so these interpersonal skills have become a more vital skill than I would have anticipated before.
Responsibilities
I'd say that I have been pushed and given as much responsibility as I could handle at each phase of my placement. The communication from the management here has been second to none. In times where I have wanted more responsibility the have responded by increasing my work load and if I have had a particularly large workload with multiple projects being completed in parallel, they have recognised this and offered me support.
Support & Guidance
The support and guidance is tailored to the individual's circumstances and needs in any given week. When I have needed support or given a task that I have not completed before I am taught well and supported. When I know what I am doing and I am capable of completing the tasks I am left to my own devices.
Culture
The atmosphere in the office has been enjoyable. My colleagues are both friendly and supportive, and it is a pleasure to come into work. Because of Covid-19, there haven't been many opportunities to socialise with the team, but everyone has tried their best to stay in touch as much as possible through permissible covid friendly activities, such as the monthly fuddle.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed my placement thoroughly... so much so that it will be a culture shock going back to University!
Yes
As interview tips go, I'd be confident, self-assured and enthusiastic at the interview. Show you're a hard worker and personable too and you can't go wrong!
