The Role
I very much enjoyed my time at Premier foods. Everyone was very warm and welcoming towards me and always willing to share their knowledge on different tasks and experiences. I also thoroughly enjoyed having my own projects on placement whilst supporting others.
I felt very valued by my colleagues by always being included in group tasks and conversations. Everyone was very warm and welcoming towards me which instantly put me at ease.
Thorough out my placement i was given constant support from my line manager and placement mentor. My line manger was always checking to see how i was getting on and was willing to give me constant support and guidance. Having this type of relationship with my line manager made me feel very valued as a placement student. My placement mentor was always there to help and support me.
On a daily basis i had various tasks to complete. Some days were much busier than others, however i always had some type of work to get on with.
On placement i was made to feel very much part of the team and was given the same general responsibilities as other colleagues. This made me feel very valued member.
Completing a year in industry will definitely prepare me for beyond my studies. It has been the best decision i have made and i am pleased i got to spend it at Premier Foods! I feel that i now have a clear insight into what is involved with the job. The skills i have developed whilst on placement have been incredibly beneficial to me as it has confirmed my desire to have a career in that job role.
The Company
The general atmosphere was very friendly and pleasant in the office. It was always very calm which made getting on with work much easier. That fact that everyone was always willing to help each other when anyone needed highlighted the positive working relationships within the group.
I feel that a clearer plan could have been prepared before my placement began. However, after the first initial few weeks a plan of what projects i would be involved in during the year was made clear. This helped me to gather focus and have something to work towards throughout my time on placement.
I feel that the company very much invested in me. Whilst on placement i completed various training like me colleagues and was able to complete the IGD fast track programme too.

Future employment prospects within the organisation looked very appealing with a clear progression structure. I really value my time on placement and would love the opportunity to progress in the business.
The Culture
I thought the social scene at work had just the right balance. Throughout my time on placement there was only a few social event. However, if you ever wished for more of a social scene i am sure it would have been welcomed.
The cost of living and socialising in the area i worked was very similar to my uni area. Nothing was particular very expensive or very cheap.
I never visited the local nightlife to where i worked.
There was a range of outside activities that you could get involved in near work such as crafts, fitness classes and clubs, gyms and swimming etc.
