The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time, working and learning at Michael Dyson Associates. I undertook a very well varied nature of tasks which will stand me in very good stead moving forward with my final year of university.
The staff at Michael Dyson Associates make you feel valued and an important part of the team from the very first day, never to be made to feel like an 'undergrad' or 'student'.
Project managers at Michael Dyson Associates are always on hand or available by email or WhatsApp to offer support or guidance where possible. The management are extremely supportive in every possible way and this promotes a happy and positive work atmosphere.
During my placement i was busy enough on a day to day basis, but never too busy where you feel like you are snowed under.
I feel I was given a fair amount of responsibility during my placement which speaks volumes about the company, they trust you to be responsible and independent while still offering the support and guidance where needed.
I feel that the skills I have developed over the last year of placement will stand me in good stead towards my degree. In all honesty I have learned a lot more during this placement than i thought i would, and certainly a lot more than i did in my first 2 years of university!!
The Company
The office atmosphere i found very good and very well balanced. Everyone can have a laugh in the office and a bit of banter while still maintaining the professionalism and strong work ethic.
Super well organised - really easy to tell that MDA do, and have been doing, placements for some time now!
Personal training and development at MDA is superb. They offer you full support and internal meetings in order to assist you in starting your APC. The company also puts on various CPD seminars which count towards your RICS.

After doing a placement here I feel it is a place where I could continue my long term career. It's a hugely attractive place to work from; modern offices to rural surroundings.
The Culture
The social scene was excellent during my placement from staff Christmas parties to the casual Friday pints over the road, everyone is made to feel welcome - no matter their 'rank'!
Cost of living in Huddersfield and surrounding areas I found to be more than manageable
Nightlife in Huddersfield isn't the best but with neighboring cities such as Leeds only a train ride away its more than applicable
Yes, plenty of opportunities to get involved in social aspects of the comapny.
