The Role
Overall it was a very enjoyable experience. I learnt an incredible amount about the corporate world and also learnt a lot about what life will be like after university. Furthermore the tech I learnt during my time here will definitely put me in good sted moving forward. This company is definitely amazing for a long term career or a spring board to launch you into the corporate world.
Although I was doing an internship I felt that I was truly valued by my colleagues and truly believe that as a company the culture is in place to support everyone to achieve their own success. Furthermore although there is a higherarchy most of the time this is not felt as the senior leaders in place are amazing people.
Support was available at every turn and I never felt that there wasn't someone whom I could turn to. It is very much a company that values people whether it be the customers or the employees. There is also a definite focus on personal development. The people there love to help out.
This is probably the only negative I have about the company. With it being a huge company it takes a while to get things rolling and also the rate at which there is work to do isn't as quick as at smaller companies. There where definitely points where I felt I was extremely bored and that there wasn't enough work to go around.
I was given the freedom to develop my project from ground up. I had supervisors in place to ensure I was doing okay but in terms of responsibility it was handed to me. This is great however I would have liked if my code was reviewed more often that it was.
Coming into this internship I had no experience of front-end development. On leaving I am confident now to build a front-end application and I've gained experience with ReactJs, HTML, CSS and Node. This will help me an incredible amount in the future as it means that I can define myself as a full-stack engineer.
The Company
Some days where slower than others but overall there was definitely a lot of fun to be had. The recruiting team are amazing and organise some amazing events for networking and fun outside of the office. It definitely gives you the opportunity to express your personality. The intern boat trip was definitely a highlight.
Organisation was great and there was weekly feedback sessions in which the feedback was taken on quickly and changes where made rapidly. In some aspects its definitely a work in process for example getting everyone set up in the first two weeks, I think there is room for improvement in this area.
I was assigned am amazing mentor who was more senior in the company who I could ask any questions regarding my personal development. This was great as they'd already been there and done it and it gave me the opportunity to help shape my future path with someone guiding me.

There is an amazing graduate program offered to most interns if you do a good enough job. The program offers two years of rotations within the company allowing you to learn more about the different devisions in technology and also learn more about the company as a whole. It also gives you the opportunity to work and meet with loads of people.
