The Role
I extremely enjoyed working at American Express throughout this Summer. I feel like I have a learned a lot of very useful skills whilst working here and I have met many great people, both interns and full time employees.
I have always felt very respected and I have been treated like on of the team since the first day.
My manager was on holiday a fair amount of the time, however when he was in the office I always felt like I could ask any questions and I was given lots of support.
I find the workload to be very manageable. I felt like I was busy during the course of the internship, and after finishing my project I was given more seperate work to keep me occupied.
The work I was doing was very independent, and I was very much left to my own devices, if I wanted, and this I enjoyed. It allowed me to show that I was able to work independently, and yet ask for help when I needed it.
I have learned very useful skills during my internship, and these will be very useful for my career. I have learned SQL, and I have learned many soft skills and also about what it is like working in an office environment. I am not sure if what I have learned will assist me in my degree.
The Company
The working environment is relaxed, and I have very much enjoyed getting to know employees and the other interns. The Campus team have put on excellent events for us throughout the course of the internship.
I would say that it has been rather organised.
I feel like the company has invested a lot into all of the intern cohort. We have constant support if needed, and also I believe that the work we do has real impact and so Amex is investing in us by letting us work on these projects.

I would love to work at Amex in the future!
The Culture
There was a great social scene between the interns. We had events organised by the Campus team and also we met up regularly outside of the office.
Living in London is obviously expensive, however since I go to university here, it didn't affect me since I already had a house here and the cost of living was no different to normal term time.
I think London nightlife is okay, however during Summer it is much harder to find events for students etc.
Yes! Campus team organised multiple social events throughout the internship, and we also organised our own socials.
