    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This internship not only has allowed me to learn about how American Express works but also has helped me to grow as a person and develop my analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I have felt that everyone in the company has been very welcoming and supportive. This includes my team, which helped me feeling welcome from the very first day of the internship. But also making friends with the other interns and colleagues has improved an already great experience.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My team and my manager have been very supportive and helpful every time I felt it was necessary. My manager has provided me with guidance at every step during the internship, leaving clear instructions when he was away.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Even though there were weeks that were busier than others due to team deadlines and presentation work, I feel like my workload was distributed in a very balanced manner over the 10 weeks.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My responsibility increased over time. Firstly, I went through a learning phase in which I felt my responsibility in the team was not very high. However, during the second half of the internship and especially when my manager was on PTO, my responsibility increased exponentially and it made me feel motivated and engaged.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • First of all, I have developed a new set of analytical skills related to the work I have been doing in my team and project that will definitely contribute to my potential success in my degree. Also, I have acquired a set of interpersonal skills that I believe will help me along my career but also in my personal life.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I believe this internship has taught me how this company works and I really feel like I would like to be part of it in the near future, after I graduate. The main things that I like from Amex are the values the company represents and promotes, the working environment, the international opportunities it offers and exposure to senior leaders and mentors.
