    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyable, the campus team were great, but the work could have been more fast paced. Although what I was doing was interesting most of the time it was stuff that had been done before by the compny and was not particularly innovative. Having said that it was nice to be easied in gently.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team were really great and very very welcoming! Getting to know the other interns was also really beneficial and I have definitely made long term friends from the campus events. My buddy was also great and I found her help and support genuinely invaluable. I think more effort could be made to force the London and Brighton interns to network.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • YEs my manager was really great. My only recommendation uld be that it would be really helpful on one of the first days to have a breakdown of the different business areas, like how the structure works in terms of the split between consumer and corporate services and even within those what the team structure was like - especially in your department.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days I was really really busy with lots of work to do to meet deadlines e.g. when we had to submit stuff to external agencies. This could be stressful especially as we had tight dealines to meet, although the stress does power you on to get the tasks finished.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a reasonable amount of responsibility, communicating with external partners including creative agencies on a daily basis. I also found that I was given a lot of say in copy for certain ad vertisments which was really really interesting. It was actually great the amount of contact I had with the partners, even getting to host them which was so much fun.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Stakeholder management was certainly one of the most useful skills that I developed over the course of the ten weeks. Althoug this is not particularly applicable to my degree it will certainly help me with whatever job I eventually get. I also found the focus on developing our communication skills, culminating in the final presentation was great.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I think that the company culture is genuinely really great, there is such a focus on work life baalcne which I really appreciated especially considering the work life balance that my friends interning at other companies have experienced. Only on one occasion did I see an employees shout at another and that was widely condemned by my team and the people around me.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Most of the campus events were really well oragnised. I would say that at times, especially the development day in Brighton where we had headshots taken etc there was a lot of waiting around which was a bit frustrating. The internship events were really great and the boat party was an al round success.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I really enjoyed the excel trainings and other such things. The focus on networking was apparent and I appreciate that it was really important. I also really enjoyed the presentation workship that we received at the beginning and was definitely able to leverage some of the learnings from it over the course of the programme.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    Healthcare/Dental

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • This I am struggling with a bit more. Obviously we get chosen for the department rather than us having a say in it. As I don't know what department I will be in yet, Ive notmade a decision on taking the job or not. Perhaps when they initially interview us they should outline the teams and ask if you have a preference for one. Or if at the end of the internships we should be able to bid for a specific team.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, I definitely really good friends with some of the other interns, which is so nice because you always have someone to go to lunch with / eek advice from. This was definitely enabled by the social events put on by the campus team and I am very appreciative for this.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Obviously London is a really expensive place to live and work. I was very lucky in the sense that I got to live rent free with family throughout the internship. However, I know that this is not the case for everyone and the price of living in London wiped out alot of the other interns wages, with some havign next to nothing left after rent.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Obviously London has great night life. It was definitely woth the campus team investing time in holding a fe events which we all really appreciated. Being able to explore the London t life scene was obviously really fun- woing from home on Fridays efineitly helped with this. Overall I would say its great.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I really really enjoyed the volunteering event run by the interns for the campus team. Getting to see that american express does things like this was really interesting and would definitely omeng that i would do if I ed full time here. In addition I went to some lunches with my team that I really enjoyed.
