    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship- met some amazing people, learnt loads of new things including coding, data analysis. It was challenging and pushed me to achieve my best. I enjoyed the social aspet of it and the chance to network with different people.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Extremely, my work was appreciated by everyone in my team and even higher leaders. Everyone at the company analyst, managers, VPs appreciated my work and encouraged me at every point. The interns were particularly supportive.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My team and manager were extremely helpful. They were extremely approachable and checked for my progress regularly. My manager setup weekly meetings with me and was always open to my questions even otherwise. When he worked from home he was happy to setup Skype calls to discuss my progress and offer help

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In the first few weeks we had trainings and networking sessions that kept us busy. was quite busy in first few weeks and extremely busy in the last few weeks and occupied - with coffee chats, learning coding. In the last few weeks, perfecting the presentation took a lot of practice.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible for a lot. I was assigned an entire project that would drive business decision and be included in monthly decks - which is significant responsibility for an intern. Moreover, I was put in charge to present to my Global LFO team - dictating a significant portion of an important meeting

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt coding which is and asset that makes you more employable and is highly appreciated in the financial world. I also got the confidence to present to senior leaders. Furthermore, I developed more social skills - how to talk to different people across the business. I also developed key excel skills.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My office offered a focus yet positive work environment. Where everyone is determined meet deadlines but also have a relaxed chat on less busy days. On Fridays the office was more empty and thus more relaxed.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was a well structured programmewith clear deadlines. The socials events were well organized well planned. We were clearly communicated with and knew what was expected of us and informed of any events taking place.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firms offered me access to software like RAMP, Think Cell etc. which was a great learning platform for me. Moreover, my manager spared a lot of his time to speak to me instead of just focusing on his work

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. Everyone around the company seemed to enjoy their job. Moreover, every role offers a new skill set making it an amazing place to learn and grow

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a really good social scene with lots of social events happening every week from treasure hunts, to rounders to mini-golfing. The employees go to pubs together after work and everyone is happpy to have a catchup. There were often team drinks and lunches and other opportunities interact with your team

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The lunch was fairly reasonable in the canteen with around £4-5 to be spared on food. Victoria is very accessible via bus, tube, overground so you don't to spend too mch on travel - so just standard London rates apply

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Very lively area with lots of sports bars and pubs. There aren't any clubs that I know of - but loads of nice restaurant s and bars

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were people that visited the office and we had to opportunity intercat with them
