The Role
I really enjoyed my internship with American Express. They have really tried hard to make every employee feel welcome, no matter how long you are with the company. Everyone is always willing to meet with you and chat about what work you're currently doing.
I felt very valued by my colleagues while working here. Everyone was always willing to give you feedback on your work and help you improve to make it the best work you can.
My manager was very supportive and helped me all he could. He set up twice-weekly meetings to check on my progress and to ensure that I was getting on well with being in the company.
I often had a few things to do but I would never say I was swamped with work which is good when you're an intern. I still felt like I was adding to the company in this way.
I felt like I was given just the right level of responsibility on this internship. My team had an important role so I wasn't given a huge amount of responsibility.
I developed many excellent skills while being here, mainly my excel skills and PowerPoint/presenting skills. My financial skills also came on leaps and bounds and really mad me understand finance in a more applicable way.
