The Role
A challenging, exciting and rewarding experience. The whole firm takes the vacation scheme very seriously, and great care is taken when planning the scheme - the social events were great, and the workshops very well executed.
I genuinely felt, especially towards the end, that associates and trainees were interested in my opinion and really appreciated the work I put in to my projects.
"Support and guidance" isn't really the name of the game here. The point is to go out and find your own work, make your own contacts throughout the office
The lack of any set work on the scheme means you can take as much or as little as you would like - of you are too bored or too busy you're either lazy, or have bitten off more than you could chew
As a non law graduate, I would have been pretty concerned if anyone handed me the reigns, but I did a lot of important research work upon which partners and associated relied upon in their cases
Given that I intend to go into law, I'd say it was invaluable.
The Company
Nice person sitting next to me, although the two trainee-per room strategy means that there is the potential for dossing around.
Perfectly. The management team were wonderful.
Alot. Formally, partners and associates gave alot of their time presenting on different aspects of law, taking us through negotiation skills, and so on. Informally, I felt that most trainees and associates bent over backwards to include me in their work, and several in particularly really went of their way to explain things to me I didn't understand, or that were new to me. I am very grateful to them.
Company Parties/Events
Make the cut. I'm delighted.
The Culture
It was fine. People can be a bit cagey when they are in direct competition with each other, but some were great, and I hope to stay in touch with at least a couple.
It's London...
