    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The lawyers were friendly and approachable, and gave you real work to do right from the start. A diverse range of activities were also arranged for vacation scheme students over the two weeks.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Lawyers took the time to explain what was required of you and to give details as to the background of deals. They also gave feedback and thanked you for your work personally.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Students are assigned two mentors whilst at the firm, and all staff were generally supportive and happy to help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It was down to vacation students to organise and manage their own workloads, and so you could take on the level of work you felt comfortable with. I did however feel slightly pressured to take on high quantities of work, and to approach partners for challenging work.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given real work to do on current deals, though there was support in place from qualified lawyers when required. Having my own office was beneficial, and prompted me to attempt things on my own before asking for help.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The placement definitely prepared me for a legal career, and helped my to better understand the nature of a lawyers workload, this helping with application forms.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone worked hard but was friendly and approachable, and would talk to you about life outside of the firm.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was a clear timetable of events providing good structure to the internship.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I don't feel a great deal was invested in my personal training or development.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • A good firm to work for if you want to work in the city.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • A good range of social events were put on.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fairly expensive, but as expected given the central London location.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • A good range of bars, pubs, restaurants and clubs.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Activities were laid on but there was often not enough time after the day's work.

    3/5
