The Role
I enjoyed getting the opportunity to see countless different places around the UK, ranging from Glasgow, all the way down to Plymouth. Gained experience in various areas of surveying from performing stock condition surveys, to works inspections and structural surveys.
I felt valued by beign left to lead on site on certain jobs and given the opportunity to have high levels of responsibility and carry out jobs well.
I was given support from directors/management on a variety of things. Especially with my RICS progression I had meetings every 3 month to discuss progress and what needs doing.
I was busy pretty much ever day, as mon-thur is spent on site carrying out jobs and then Fridays you are kept busy filling in the relavant information from the week, amongst other things.
I was given high levels of responsibility after a certain level of competence was achieved. For instance I was entrusted to fill out proformas with important data and then properly input this electronically.
The skills and experience gained are invaluable to my further study and career. From simply gaining a better understanding of basic industry terminology, to how to conduct yourself in a real work environment.
The Company
A friendly evenironment where people can chat but work still got done.
It was well set up in the way things was laid out and explained and policies and procedures are followed.
There are many free in-house cpd sessions available throughout the year, which teach a variety of subjects and contribute towards your RICS. You are also taught how to do everything on site.
This is appealing as it is a good company with chance for progression.
The Culture
The area is relatively cheap.
