    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • NetApp helped me to smoothly bridge the transition gap between me being a student and that of a professional and to me that certainly makes a big difference. Will I recommend NetApp when I go back to university? Why not?! It is just a great place to work!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As an intern working in NetApp, there was never a single day I felt like an intern. Staff and managers were very helpful and open. The vibrancy in the working culture of NetApp is just excellent. No wonder NetApp has strong history of achieving top 5 positions in 'Fortunes Magazines Best Workplace To Work'.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The 'Buddy' system within NetApp is second to none. My buddy had actually been on a placement in the past and therefore created the perfect opportunity for me to learn the best. I work shoulder to shoulder with my manager and supervisor from day to day duties to huge projects. The coaching given was excellent in that it gave the perfect opportunity to access my Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Dealing daily with teams from Benelux/Nordics regions on different deals made me very busy within my job role. Two days were never the same and the variety in these deal opportunities as the came along provided diverse learning opportunities and also broke the monotony in my job role.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had the opportunity to be given several deal opportunities to look after and I believe that gave me the opportunity to shine and mark my mark on the business. Two important NetApp values I hold closely to my hear are ' Going Beyond' and 'Trust & Integrity'. Exhibiting these vales daily allowed my manager to trust me and give me more task to do with less supervision.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • NetApp invested in me by sending me on several training workshops. I have inculcated skills such as time management, presentation and networking skills which I believe, will set me apart during future interviews, adapt to changes in a professional environment and lastly, contribute to achieving an excellent degree after my placement.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere within the office was inspirational and motivating. Managers and colleagues kept exceeding targets and that was a big morale booster to me.Apart from that, I loved the quarter ends and month ends as we always got free pizzas and samosas for lunch to ease off the pressures.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The work placement was properly structured and well organised with an intern curriculum. Interns were given projects to emabrk on and later gave presentations to the UK Director and senior management. On the fun side, intern handovers are done over a meal in a restaurant which I believe adds some variety to the set up.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • NetApp invested in me by sending me a 'Business Essentails' training which I found key to my personal development. NetApp University which is an inhouse training tool helped me to gain more understanding of the different products the NetApp offers as well as get in depth knowledge about the Storage industry. There were also one to one coaching and training from managers I have found very beneficial.
