    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been great so far, I imagine it may continue to improve as the year goes on and the projects progress. expect some heavily padded out answers if i'm going to hit that 50 - word word count. 50 seems like a bit much for most of these questions, but i'll try and make most of it useful

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I have been made to feel like a valued member of the the team here at Focusrite. I've been trusted to carry out important tasks on various projects. There is no big divide between full time members of staff and interns, which is nice...just need a few more words...49 50

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • i think this is a particularly strong point of the internship - whenever i have had questions about my work I have been able to ask my colleagues for guidance / clarification etc . also , every week I have a one - to - one meeting with my line manager, which is an opportunity to make sure everything is going well.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • it's a good balance - there is always plenty of work to be done . I have joined Focusrite Audio Engineering just as a large project has been kicking off so there is is currently plenty on my to - do list each day . it's a good balance .

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As mentioned in question 2 - i've been given responsibility to carry out various tasks that are important to projects . It is clear to me that i have the opportunity to take responsibility over certain tasks, and pass on responsibility if it becomes too much.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • In my time so far at Focusrite, I have learned some useful skills, transferable across various aspects of the audio industry. I've added depth to my knowledge of audio equipment and electronics . Simply working in a professional environment has its benefits, it's a chance to develop important social skills .

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • a great place to be - it would be wrong to say "the fun never stopped" as i doubt much work would get done that way. But generally the atmosphere is very chilled - a positive work environment . at 3 o'clock we have biscuits.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I feel that the internship / placement is very well organised. As I have been integrated into the projects, its not as if work has to be specially 'prepared' for me as the intern The amount of work that is set for me is governed by the ongoing projects. 10/10

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned earlier, every week I have a one - to - one meeting with my line manager. this is an opportunity to review and assess my work over the past week and set goals for following week or few weeks etc. I'm not entirely sure that answers the question.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Its perhaps too soon to assume the likelihood of being offered a full time job at the end of my placement at Focusrite. However, at this point it certainly seems appealing to me. Many of my colleagues started off as interns. The placement seems like a good step in terms of career path.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are some good social opportunities here at Focusrite. shortly after i first joined, my department (QA) went go-karting. It also isn't rare to go down the pub once every few weeks, for example to welcome a new member of staff or to celebrate a success / occasion. 8 out of 10.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Difficult for me to comment on the living costs of this area as I'm currently staying with family and do not live particularly locally. However, from what I've heard, High Wycombe is quite a pricey area, which makes sense given that it is so easy to get to London from here.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Like the previous question, it is difficult for me to comment on the nightlife of High Wycombe as a rarely spend evenings here - unless I am out with my work colleagues.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not entirely sure I understand the question. . . Work related, there's a few social activities such as a football team and a running club. Completely unrelated to work - I can't really comment as I don't live in High Wycombe, but I'm pretty sure there's lots going on .
