I enjoyed this placement fully as it aligned with my personal passions and interests and the company ethos was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. The company was flexible about how I chose to work and supported my interests and helped me learn what I wanted to learn.
It was fantastic. A really good way to understand what truly working in your chosen field is like, rather than just studying it. Adjusting to the 9-5 life is hard and there can be a fair amount of boring admin tasks but this is the best way to get a realistic view of working in your field.
I thoroughly enjoyed my role as the Hardware Intern at Focusrite. I was able to experience many areas of the company and work with many different people, on top of gaining valuable experience into what an engineering position can be like on a daily basis.
Focusrite Novation was an enjoyable placement year which taught me many new skills. I was able to learn skills which related to my course but also learnt new things which my course wouldn't have taught me. I was very lucky that Focusrite was a very welcoming company from day 1, and they made an effort both professionally and socially to go above and beyond.
It has been great so far, I imagine it may continue to improve as the year goes on and the projects progress. expect some heavily padded out answers if i'm going to hit that 50 - word word count. 50 seems like a bit much for most of these questions, but i'll try and make most of it useful
I was treated like a full time employee and able to input a lot of value in my role and was involved in all the usual office outings. I was given freedom to learn loads as well, and never felt like I was given a task that a regular full time employee wouldn't have been given.
I thoroughly enjoyed my year at Focusrite. From day one of my placement I was able to get stuck in with real project work and was treated as an equal employee. The work was varied and engaging and I was able to grow within the role in the 14 months I worked there. Focusrite great their employees really well and placement students share the same benefits as full time employees.
The placement at Focusrite was a great opportunity and experience throughout the year. For a start there are very few solid placements schemes in this industry in the UK and the competition for them is large. The day-to-day work of all of the placements, including mine was essentially what everyone else was doing so it is genuine experience.
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Focusrite. It gave me insight into the entire industry and how products were put together from start to finish. I was trusted to carry out responsibilities largely unsupervised and really felt like I made a contribution to the company. It was so good I came back to work full-time after graduating.
