    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was extremely enjoyable. There was never a boring moment and it was really satisfying contributing to real world products. As well as the work there was numerous fun day trips that were super fun and unexpected. I genuinely cant think of a negative to say about my experience with this internship program.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From the get go i was treated as an equal which was really nice. I was given a lot trust even when it came to working on the real world products. My input and suggestions also felt valued and weren't completely shut down when I agreed or disagreed with certain decisions. Everyone has a voice in the team and it was a good feeling when you put forward a suggestion that actually gets accepted

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Absolutely everyone I worked with and encountered was super happy to answer all the questions I had throughout my time in the program. (And i asked A LOT of questions) They also made sure to have regular 1 to 1s with me to make sure everything was going good and just to have a chat about anything that was on our minds.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work life balance is amazing. With regards to work, there is more than enough to keep you busy 24/7 if you really wanted to. And with how enjoyable the work is i found myself trying to get hands on as often as possible. With that being said they do not make you work at certain pace or capacity which is really nice. I can safely say there was never a day where i was bored

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My team definetely treated me as an equal which was really nice. I got to give suggestions as well as disagree or agree with certain decisions without getting shut down. A lot of my work was on real world products so you can safely assume i was given a good amount of responsibility.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt as much during this internship as i did during a semester of uni. Possibly even more. I got exposed to things i didnt even know existed. The internship also gave me a really good idea of what different possible career paths i could go down in the future. Which was my main goal when going for this internship

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone is super friendly and approachable. Very stress free environment.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Other than setting up our computers and environments everything went super smoothly. We got a really good balance of work days and days out. We got a really good introduction to the company as well as all the other interns, grads and apprentices. With regards to learning on the job the senior engineers are also super smart and could help with all the programming problems i had. The internship ended with a final presentation which was a really cool way to reflect on all that we had contributed during our time there

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Everyone there is willing to help. But you have to be willing to go and ask for the help. They treat you as an equal and give you a lot of trust and responsibility. They give you the work and let you get on with it. They dont however expect you to struggle in silence and power through. If you are having issues especially with programming just ask for a bit of help and they will more than glady teach you.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I was lucky enough to get offered a job which I accepted in a heart beat. The company is super fun to work at and everyone is really relaxed. Completeing real life work is more satisfying than completeing coursework. And at least for me I actively wanted to go into work everyday and get stuff done.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The internship done a really good job of helping us socialise with others. And after the initial introductions we all just started setting up our own socials. We went out to eat. Out ice skating. Out to the beach. Out 'out'. And many other things. The internship also had a lot of socials with other interns from other parts of the company.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • All the nights I went out with the other interns were super fun. (From what i remember). Brighton has more than enough clubs. One for everybodys scene for sure. I had to crash at an interns house most nights out though as i travelled in from london everyday. (Something i dont suggest doing)

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Loads if you go looking. Personally i was part of the amex speakers club and also took part in football fridays.
