The Role
It was great to have the ability to work on two big projects independently. Variety was something that was also abundantly evident, no day was the same and this was extremely stimulating.
At Amex the culture is fantastic. It's not the case that you are just 'an intern', colleagues are very welcoming and make you feel like you are part of the time.
In the sense that my line managers worked remotely, I did the majority of my work independently. However whenever I needed to speak to my managers they were very generous with their time and provided great advice.
The great thing about having two projects is that you can switch between them, therefore you're always busy.
A lot. Given that the majority of the project is down to how you approach it, you're responsible for 95% of the work. This is something that is enormously helpful and useful for later in life.
A wide variety of skills but the main ones include organisation, time-management & communication skills- three aspects fundamental for degree studies and beyond.
The Company
It was a fantastic atmosphere that encompassed all the aspects that make you want to go to the office everyday.
There was a clear structure in terms of the key milestones from the HR team and also from line managers with regards to projects.
In the first week there were a few workshops on Presentation and Excel skills which were useful.

I was fortunate enough to receive a job offer from American Express.
The Culture
The whole intern cohort across different areas of the business in London got on very well, so the social scene was good there. HR organised some great events for interns as well.
Commuted from home so can't say from a personal experience, but the cost of rent and nights out in London is well documented.
You'd have to go more central to get Nightlife in London
As an intern it is difficult to get involved in activities outside of work, mainly because you're there for such a short period of time.
