    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement has helped me develop as an overall person, it is not a normal placement of getting drinks for people, this placement is a real job that will give you real experience within the chosen field.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone person always has a smile on their face, even on a Monday and through the bad weather. There is not a day that I have walked into the office an not one person said good morning, it really does feel like a family.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I have felt very supported when I have faced challenges and come across difficult task, overall my whole team as guide me through the year and helped me learn.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Every day has been different depending on the role you want to take on the responsibilities you want to take, everyone is understanding of the workload. There is enough to keep you on your toes while learning at the same time.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a fair amount of responsibilities in sense this placement gave me customer accounts to oversee to ensure the customer is happy. I was also placed with a few reports that were needed for when the company is being audited. I enjoyed the responsibilities that I had and made me feel like a real team member.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Overall the skills I have learnt has helped me develop, not just for my degree but have gave me an insight to the industry that I want to join and the career path I want to take. The placement have gave me skills that will benefit me through out life, with some of the challenges I have overcome as a person and team.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It can be fun, however when the time comes the office will be busy during peak times. I have always left feeling good about the next day a head.

  • Overall it was set up smoothly, with having everything ready for me to take over from the old placement.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company has invested in me as a person with helping me understand the engineering side and while sending me a Toastmaster course to help me develop my presentation skills.

  • I am very interested in returning to the company either that be during my fail year or on the grade scheme.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • yes, placement students and stuff are always friendly and always wiling spend time in or out work socialising this not being just with the working area but also thought the whole company.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The living is very reasonable with the wage placements get. I managed 3 holidays during my placement year if that helps give a little understanding

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The town centre is okay, however train to Leeds is only 18 minutes and cheap if you wanted to go to a city nightlife but either way still a good laugh.

  • Yeah, the placement students are always asked to do activities.
