The Role
I throughly enjoyed my placement and all the opportunities that Premier Foods gave me in my time there.
My team were very supportive and I got treated like I was part of the team and not a student. I was a colleuge who worked there and not a student. They gave me lots of support and worked well within the team all sharing responsibilities equally
Lots of support was given. I was allowed to get on with my own work while my mentor and manager were there to help and assist me if needed to make sure the work was done correctly however giving me a learning Opportunity to lean from mistakes
I had daily responsibilities however in team meetings work load was discussed and if one persons work load was more than usual we shared the work load out giving me more responsibilities as my year progressed
As the year progressed I was given more responsibilities. The first couple of months I was learning and shaddowing. I was given more responsibility as I was seen as part of the team and given more work than usual placement students
My placement year has been invaluable and will stay with me throughout my career in the food industry.
The Company
good friendly atmosphere in the office. Everyone friendly and willing to help and support
There was a good structure where the placement students got the best opportunity that premier could give. Visiting different sites and talking to more people within the business to look at other areas of the food industry
They have had a placement programme for years. Premier have invested time into all of us looking for personal development of each placement student.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
I have had conversation with managers about coming back if an opportunity came up. I would go back to work there if I was Asked
The Culture
All of the students were part of the social team and were encouraged to create events for the office to promote networks and friendships within the office
I lived at home so there was no on cost to me working and travelling.
Sheffield was a good area however the office was split into either Nottingham or Sheffield so it was hard for all of the office to attend the socials
The social team put on dinners or nights out for people to attend.
