The Role
A challenging placement but highly enjoyable.
I was given feedback by particular colleagues as I went along which made me feel valued.
Being a non-rotational training system there was probably not the amount of support that you would get at other law firms- but that's what Jones Day is about. You know what you have to do, and you use your initiative and drive to get it done. On individual tasks, however, whoever I was working for was always happy to give further guidance.
Always had something to do- had a few late nights though but it was all part of the experience.
The right amount- not too daunting but I definitely felt like I was having a useful impact on the matter my supervisor was working on.
Invaluable experience if you want to go on to train in the City.
The Company
Genuinely friendly office.
Very well structured.
The feedback I received after the placement was amazing- I was also given further advice on how to gain a training contract which was very helpful and certainly not something that they were obliged to do.
Unfortunately didn't get a TC- but nonetheless the experience was amazing.
The Culture
Social events were organised by Jones Day- but in the end we were organising them for ourselves.
London- so expensive as would be expensive.
Only experienced a few pubs- probably amazing though!
Networking, sports, pro bono opportunities.
