    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my time at TPP. I was nervous about starting at a company far from my home town and thought I may feel very lonely. However, this has not been the case at all - everyone at TPP is so friendly. This makes for a great working environment, I have not once dreaded waking up and coming to work. The perks of this placement have been amazing - where else puts a free bar tab on every friday and gives you £200 just for having a birthday?

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I have felt extremely valued during my placement. As a placement student here you make up your own team, have daily morning meetings together and manage your own work load. The flat hierarchy has also been amazing at creating this feeling as I have the freedom do provide my own thoughts.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support and guidance here has been second to none. Even though there is a flat hierarchy as a placement student you will have a 'buddy' - sort of like a supervisor. They have often helped me with my workload. For example if we have a low workload they will help find other things we can get involved in, and if we have a high workload they can offer us help and get other people in the company to pick up some of our tasks.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Every day is different. Sometimes we can be extremely busy and other times we can be fairly quiet. Usually our workload corresponds with the other teams, if they are busy we will get given more jobs and so our workload will increase. Sometimes we our required to travel outside the office - usually for recruitment. So if one team member is out, the work load may increase. We are always busy and no day is boring. If we are ever too busy other teams will help us, so the workload has been manageable.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As a placement student here we have been given so much responsibility. As stated previously, making up our own team has made us all feel really responsible and trusted. We have been required to represent the company on many occasions which is a great responsibility. My main responsibilities have been running the LinkedIn account and managing the company phones.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My time at TPP has really made me grow as a person. Within my first month on my return home my Dad complimented me on how confident I had become - and that was only the first month, my confidence has defiantly rocketed. I have learnt so many interesting things about recruitment and marketing that I am excited to apply to my degree. This experience has been amazing and I will always be thankful for my time at TPP.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was so friendly and lovely to work with. The office culture is so different from anywhere I had experienced before, the flat hierarchy made you feel so appreciated as a placement student - my opinion mattered. Help was always so easy to come across with everyone being so willing.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The whole placement was organised really well. Being 13 moths long meant that I spent my first month shadowing the previous years placement students. This makes for a smooth handover and gave me confidence to do the job well. Having "buddies" worked really well, if we had any problems after the previous years students had left we could speak to them.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned above the training we received was provided by the previous years placement students and this worked really well. We did not receive any external training as this would not be needed for the role. If we wanted experience doing other oles within the company we could get involved and would be trained how to do this by another employee.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    International Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are lots of graduate opportunities to choose from at TPP. If I was to choose any role to return for it would be the product specialist or account role as there is lots of travel involved with these roles. The coder or analyst roles would not suit me in terms of my degree and grades.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is a great social scene at TPP! Every Friday the whole company has the opportunity to go to a local pub with all drinks paid for and there are so many parties. I have made so many amazing friends that I hope I will keep for life. I am sure I would not have made as many if I didn't work at such a social environment company.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The great thing about going on placement in the north is the cheaper cost of living. A lot of placements are based in London and I would defiantly have struggled to get the balance between living and socializing had I gone on placement there. The pay on this placement year is great, I never have to turn down a social occasion due to money and I have a lovely flat.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Having attended university in Liverpool where there is great nightlife, I was shocked to find the nightlife in Leeds even better! Most Fridays after our free drinks in the pub, a lot of the company heads into town and sometimes I would not stumble home until after 3am - its safe to say Leeds nightlife is great!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Due to the graduate nature of the company, a lot of people have moved to the area for the job. This meant that there was mostly always something to get involved in after work. For example: board games club, climbing club, netball, football and bowling. People even go to the pub for a quick drink after work some weekdays.
