The Role
Interesting and varied work, learnt a lot of new skills and worked within a very friendly team.
Thanked regularly for the work I did for the team.
Great initial support when I was getting used to the role. Had catch-up meetings and one-to-ones to set personal targets and review the work I'd been doing. As the internship went on I was given more freedom to use my initiative and set my own work.
This varied a lot during the internship depending on upcoming events. Sometimes I was very busy but other times there was less to do.
I was given my own project to work on, and always told to use my initiative and put my ideas into practice if they imporved the way the team was working.
Really great first step for getting into the charity sector as there was an opportunity to get involved in so many aspects of the partnership - fundraising, donor care, communications, event support etc.
The Company
Very friendly atmosphere, a lot of social opportunities and everyone was approachable if you needed help.
Was given a week-by-week plan, regularly talked to my manager about work priorities and targets.
My manager set up meetings for me with colleagues in different departments to get an insight in to what they do. Was offered the chance to do day swaps with interns in other departments, but in the end did not have a chance to organise these.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Entry level positions did come up when I was doing my internship, but competition for these was high.
The Culture
Network of interns to have lunch with and discuss your experiences.
London, so expensive, but given £5 lunch allowance which usually covered this.
Not sure.
Loads of opportunities to volunteer at events, challenges etc.
