    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was extremely enjoyable, and I was made to feel very welcome from the start. Everyone at the firm came across as friendly and outgoing, which really helped to make me feel comfortable and relaxed.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was made to feel very valued by my colleagues. Even the partners of the firm were, on the role, very encouraging; they seemed to really value my involvement in the work they were doing.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Both my supervisors were very supportive. I turned to them when I had queries regarding the work I had been given, and they invariably helped me to solve the issue.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This varied from day to day, but on the whole I was relatively busy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was give interesting and relevant work to do; whether or not this work carried a particularly high level of responsibility, I cannot say -- the main thing is that I felt valued and needed whilst carrying it out.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills of analysis and legal research which I began to develop are proving very useful as I study the GDL.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was friendly and relaxed -- people seemed to really get on well with one another.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was well set up, though it was very much your own responsibility to ask around for pieces of work. Less confident people may have found this challenging.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were a number of talks and events during the scheme, to which we were all encouraged to go. These meetings were very interesting, as they gave us an insight into what a career in law might look like.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I accepted the job they offered me at the end of the scheme.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Everyone seemed to get on well, and we went out for drinks on several occasions.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I am not too familiar with London prices, but the area did seem quite expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It seemed fine -- we went to a couple of bars and clubs around the local area.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a number of social events (such as department parties, etc.) which were put on during the two weeks.
