    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship with Aon and can very much see a future with the company, I hope to be able to continue this with a graduate role.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The atmosphere in the office was extremely welcoming, I was treated as a friend and also felt like a respected colleague.

  • I had regular manager catchups and a recent graduate 'buddy' to help me.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The first half of the internship was fairly slow, but work picked up and I was plenty busy during the latter weeks.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt like the work I was doing was valuable and that I was depended on by colleagues

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The experience has given me great confidence and insight into the actuarial world and I'd feel very confident taking up a garduate role or applying for similar positions elsewhere

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very positive and friendly, I got on very well with my colleagues and I did not feel out of place

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall it was extremely well organised. I would only say that maybe details such as hotel accomodation would have been welcomed slightly more in advance.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt that all of the interns were treated as the future of the company, and that Aon had really put a lot of time and resources into the early careers process

  • I very much hope that I will recieve a job offer to stay working with Aon

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Absolutely, I feel that I have made good friends and that Aon assisted this with events organised within the internship

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived in Birmingham which is very much a student city and so prices were fairly affordable

  • Very good

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I joined the netball team and participated in a weekend away for a tournament organised by Aon, one of the highlights of my internship
