The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed the internship. I loved the variety, each day was different.
As I worked in the region office there were lots of different teams within the office, but everyone made me feel very welcome.
My manager was very supportive throughout the internship. Although she did not work in the office, she was always available to contact should I need any assistance, plus I was able to ask others in the office for assistance when I required it and everyone was very helpful.
I was really busy on a day-to-day basis but I really enjoyed it as I was never bored and the days flew by!
I was given a great deal of responsibility. I was encouraged to come up with my own ideas and carry them out.
I learnt many transferable skills which I believe are invaluable and will definitely assist me in my future career such as training in public speaking, experience in promotion and marketing of a major event, media training and fundraising experience.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office was really good. Everyone was really friendly and there was a chance once a week to all get together for tea and cake!
I think the organisation of the internship couldn't have been better. The induction and training made it really clear what my objectives were and I was given a weekly plan by my manager so I always knew what I should be doing.
I was given the opportunity to attend a number of training courses and a personal development day. I was also given advice on job hunting and CV guidance.
Nothing at present but would definitely apply for a job if something came up in the future.
The Culture
There was another intern in the office who I got on really well with and we also got along with everyone else in the team.
Not that cheap... but not Macmillan's fault as I chose to do the internship here!
Nightlife in Edinburgh is great!
Myself and the other intern were invited to activities outside work so we really felt like part of the team.
