    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed my internship and was sad to leave at the end!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everybody was so friendly and approachable, and incredibly helpful at all times. They made a big effort to welcome the interns into the office and always ensured that they included us.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We had regular catch ups with our line manager which enabled us to easily ask them any questions we had. Our manager was very approachable so if we had a query that couldn't wait till the catch up, it would be fine to just go and talk to them or send an email.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most of the time I was always kept busy. Once my charity project ended I had more time on my hands, but I always had something to do.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I would say we were given a good level of responsibility because we were encouraged to take ownership of our work, though everything we did would be fully checked by someone else. This is standard procedure in the firm and not a reflection on our lack of experience.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a huge amount about the world of investment compared to what I knew before, and this knowledge will be extremely useful in both my degree and everyday life.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was fairly quiet as it had to be due to everyone needing to concentrate. However outside of work hours or if we went to the pub for lunch everyone was very chatty and friendly, and the office was sometimes quite lively as well, it varied. There was a good team spirit.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was set up almost perfectly. In the induction week we had to stay an extra day down in London and they didn't tell us until the evening of 2 days before, so that was quite bad, but overall events and training all ran extremely smoothly.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were invited along to all training sessions including one all day event down in London and had 3 very informative training days at the beginning.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work for this company as the job is mentally stimulating and enjoyable and I really like the emphasis on teamwork and supporting your colleagues that they have here.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Everyone went out on quite a few Fridays to the pub after work and everyone got on really well.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Birmingham nightlife is not great!

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was badminton most weeks but nothing apart from that.

    2/5
