    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Insurance has its fair share of mundane paperwork, but there is a lot of freedom. I was able to get policies signed off by insurers.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Tended to get given awful jobs by some members of staff and far more interesting ones by more senior staff. All were very pleasant though, and were always very keen to involve me.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Sometimes too much. I'd rather have a go at something and go over it afterwards than going through the whole job with my supervisor as was sometimes the case.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Pretty good balance. I had a number of ongoing jobs I could be getting on with to fill in any gaps.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Great amount of independence and responsibility. Really enjoyed being given the chance to broke deals, regardless of how minor they were.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Great exposure to public speaking, and working as part of a nationally-spread team through the charity project.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great atmosphere! The best place I have ever worked. People always had a sense of humour, and people really seemed to enjoy working there.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • A few minor problems with organisation eg. asking us to start during exams but still very good overall.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • One day of training related to my area of work, in addition to the time invested by the people working with me and explaining things to me in a less formal setting.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are certainly worse places to work. Good atmosphere, nice people, varied work.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were a number of events organised by the interns, including a number for people's charity projects.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It's London, what do you expect?

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Didn't really experience nightlife as such, more just pubs and bars after work.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not that I knew of.

    1/5
