I really enjoyed the experience of working in the corporate world. This my first ever time doing so and it was fascinating to see how people conduct themselves in a professional setting. I really enjoyed the responsibilities they had given me also as I felt really empowered and trusted by the company.
I was placed in Halifax Foundation - I thoroughly enjoyed it, the team were very welcoming and supportive. The manager took time to get to know me and worked me at a level she felt I could mange. She made me feel valued and I gained many skills whilst in placement here.
It was a great year that enabled me to learn lots about the company and division. I was given a lot of responsibility from day 1 and had many opportunities to learn and develop, whether that be through networking or undertaking new tasks.
For me, the insight was not at all enjoying. I was promised a prominent role in doing tasks but I was rather pushed to the side and not allowed to do much. I took on more of an observer role and this was not very fun and it felt like a waste of time.
My year on industrial placement with Lloyds was brilliant, with the team that I was based within enabling me to gain full exposure to their role as well as having full access to see other areas of the business upon request. This meant that I was able to gain knowledge and insights into a sector that I hadn't previously experienced with a fantastic team of people! On top of this the potential to be put forward for the graduate scheme and potentially stay on at Lloyds is an opportunity not to be missed.
I have really enjoyed my placement year at Lloyds Banking Group. I am so glad that I got the opportunity to do my placement year at Lloyds. The opportunities and experiences that I have had over the 12 months here have been invaluable to me, which has allowed me to grow so much in a short period of time.
I thoroughly enjoyed my work placement at LBG - I have gained so much knowledge both inside and outside the team. I have learnt coding from scratch which is something I always wanted to do, I improved my analysis skills and also got exposure in front of more senior members of the group while presenting to them.
I really enjoyed the placement, the work was challenging and refreshing ensuring I was rarely bored or thought that the work was mundane. Everyone who worked there were really accommodating and friendly and happy to help whenever you needed it. I learnt a lot over the year from analytical skills such as coding and software in SAS, SQL, VBA to presentation ability by the end of the year I was presenting my work to the head of the business area. The general office atmosphere was a major part of why I enjoyed my placement as I looked forward to going in to the office.
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year with Lloyds Banking Group. I have learned some invaluable skills, especially in computing and coding; whilst learning a bit about the risk and fraud industries. The work was interesting and varied slightly on a day to day basis, whilst the office working environment was quite relaxed and never too stressful.
I really enjoyed my work placement overall. The main factors that contributed to this were the general office environment, skills that I was able to gain and work that I undertook, colleagues, location and general social experience.
The placement was really interesting at times and the opportunities for shadowing and personal development days are excellent. I undertook around 3 weeks of shadowing throughout the year on placement which was great to understand where I would like to work in the future. However, the role itself I had was quite mundane, I had to fill my time doing a lot of personal development and getting involved in a lot of other activities which were passed onto me from the previous IP student, without these activities I would not have had a lot to do, there is definitely room for improvement for the actual role.
It was very enjoyable. The work itself wasn't anything to scream and shout about but the office culture here at Lloyds Banking Group is amazing. Its totally the opposite from what you would expect from a corporate bank. They will provide you with a very conducive working environment where you will not be discouraged from trying new things.
Great company culture - Lots of opportunities - Encouragement from management - Lots of other extra activities to get involved with e.g. Give & Gain Day. All of these aspects have made my journey within Lloyds very gratifying and productive. Would definitely recommend both placement years and working at Lloyds Banking Group.
My job role was really interesting, I got to work on professional relationships, implementing standards, finance and problem solving. There was also a lot of other IPs in the Leeds office and full time colleagues are really friendly so the social aspect was good as well.
I have not enjoyed this work placement and would not recommend my current team to other prospective students. I believe that the risk scheme overall is extremely useful and I have heard much more positive reviews from my fellow IPs. However, I had been placed in an unfortunate team meaning I was unable to enjoy the experience.
Thoroughly enjoyed working with my team, made me feel very welcome. My role itself was really interesting and I was given the chance to work in various subteams to improve my understanding of different areas. My work was challenging and diverse and I was always given the support that I needed.
