Real work projects are given to you and people spend time to teach you stuff so really enjoyed it. I feel that I am engaged every minute in the office and there is always someone I can go to if I have any questions or if I want to learn about something.
Overall, I really enjoyed my internship. I experienced a steep learning curve and every day was challenging and I was learning something new every day. The environment was collaborative and challenging at the same time. Additionally, I really appreciated the huge networking opportunities that Citi provides, I felt it was easy to connect also with seniors
I really enjoyed the project that I was given from my manager because it really did expose me to a variety of technologies. This meant that I was constantly learning about different kinds of frameworks and packages. I also enjoyed learning how technology impacts the business.
Each desk had an extremely different environment, in terms of the general atmosphere of the desk as well as the type of work given and level of involvement of the manager and supervisors for the placement. This sometimes made it a struggle to become accustomed to each environment, especially as in some cases it seemed like the managers on the desk were not aware of the purpose of the internship or what the intern's role needed to be. Nevertheless I found a lot of the work challenging and engaging, and also got on well will the other interns which in particular made the whole experience extremely positive.
Great exposure to the entire bank. Given the opportunity to navigate the entire bank and make the most out of it. Everyone was very friendly and encouraged you to network and learn about different areas to the ones you are placed in. The benefit of the rotation programme is that you get great exposure to lots of asset class divisions.
The internship is intense and fun. Aside from work we got to attend a lot of speakers series, networking event, trading games etc. The work given to me suits my background and is also challenging. I got to learn a lot of new skills, and the people are very helpful.
Overall a positive experience. Work load can be heavy dependent on team (16+ hours/ day, one or both days over the weekend) but that's been expected. Face time is discouraged, however there are definitely times when the workflow could have been better managed by seniors to make interns/ juniors' lives easier. Again this is highly dependent on the team.
My placement was a very insightful experience. I had the opportunity to do 2 three-months rotations en Equity Capital Markets and in Debt Capital Markets. I have been involved in various live transactions, pitches and Request for Proposals. I had the opportunity to meet a client alongside with the financial advisor and the other mandated banks.
