Very much. I personally believe that Citi not only ensures you have a really good professional experience (getting involved in many projects and that employees in the bank take time to explain things to you) but also puts emphasis in many events so you really get to know a lot of people in the bank and learn from their experiences).
The summer internship program at Citi is very well run and I had a great time on it. There are frequent events to get you connected to the other interns as well as a variety of senior colleagues across the bank, and it is clear that a lot of work is put in to make it useful experience for everyone.
It is slower paced than I expected. The desk I was placed on were great and always willing to help. It was well positioned to get exposure from various other teams. It was useful to develop my skills and see whether or not this is the right career for me.
The internship was all in all a very good experience. The 10 weeks are intense as you get thrown right into the action, but that was honestly the best way to learn about the whole business. Most importantly, the people were all really nice and helpful, so you would never hesitate to ask a question to anyone, no matter how simple it might be.
It was a valuable experience. Citi values its interns and they have a lot of resources, events and programmes to make sure you get to learn as much as possible, network a lot and you have fun. I highly reccomend the internship to anyone that wants a career in finance/markets.
Good exposure to the company- allowed you to get a feel for the culture yourself. Great to gain a good foundational basis and network within the company. Everyone was aware that we all had limited knowledge basis and therefore, were understanding and patient and willing to teach you. The length of hours depended on the desk- however, some were very early.
The Markets and Securities summer internship is one of the best compared to similar banks. You have 2 rotations - 4 weeks & 5 weeks and can allocate your preferences before you start regarding product and desk type. (I was very lucky and got two of my top preferences) Everyone is very friendly, it is a great learning environment and a stepping stone towards a future career in banking. HR have created a great program with lots of networking events throughout the summer.
