Overview
Meeting and shadowing professionals across Sales, Trading and Structuring on the trading floor, along with a range of guest speakers providing an insight into the life of an employee at Citi. The programme also provide a number of opportunities to meet and network with fellow interns that share similar career goals.
Skills
Shadowing employees on the trading floor improved my ability to critically assess a number of macroeconomic, political and market based factors in order to come to a well rounded conclusion on any topic. I have also improved my ability to network with both interns and industry professionals which allowed me to identify further skills to develop in order to have a successful career within the markets division such as client relationship building and analytical thinking.
Business Insight
One of the key takeaways I found was the approachable and happy to help attitude that all employees within the bank have, this meant it was easy for me to gain a deeper understanding into the skills and traits that individuals across sales, trading and structuring have. Citis truly global presence with made clear with the opportunities to work alongside fellow professionals globally and improve your network which was really attractive to me.
Culture
The atmosphere and culture at Citi is fantastic, and is most definitely an environment I can picture myself building a career within. All employees were happy to take time out of their day to answer your questions and explain their roles, which was extremely beneficial in deciding where your future career aspirations may lay. The recruiters were also very approachable and happy to talk about the next steps within a very well structured week.
Your Impressions
The insight week was throughly enjoyable, and a fantastic learning experience. It has allowed me to improve my industry based knowledge, network and also inspire me further to continue to work hard in order to pursue a carer within the Markets division at Citi.

Id advise anyone applying to Citi to research into and understand the importance of Citis values and culture, try to implement how you stand by these values within your application and how you have demonstrate them within your past experiences.
